Under the flagship of Helping Hand Charitable Trust, Mothers Milk is a
project dedicated to provide Mother’s Milk to those children in Need. Mothers
Milk is an Android Application with main vision of educating the masses
about the importance of the mother’s milk for an infant who has born
prematurely.
This application acts as a bridge between the Donor and the
Receiver. Mothers who are facing an oversupply of breast milk can volunteer to
donate the milk to those in need by registering themselves as Donors.
The
receiver can login and search the donor or the Milk Bank available nearest to
his or her residence. Considering health importance, Medical Laboratory are also
empanelled for providing medical tests at competitive rates, if the receiver or
the donor wishes to get tested for the same.

Mothers who are overproducers often look for something to do with their extra milk and fall in love with the idea of donating. Sometimes grieving mothers who lost their baby during late pregnancy or soon after birth find the act of donating incredibly healing. Other mothers feel compelled to donate because they want to share the miracle of breast milk with babies in need.
A healthy lactating mother who tests negative for HIV and VDRL, is not under any drugs and is free from any evidence of Hepatitis, can donate breast milk after due examination and approval by a doctor.

Mother’s milk provides complete nutrition and becomes a protective shield for the baby from various diseases. The First breast milk known as Colostrum, includes carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, vitamins, minerals, and sugar which acts as a boon for the baby and is rich in nutrients and antibodies. Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months protects the baby from various illnesses. Formula-fed infants have increased instances of ear infections and diarrhoea as compared to breastfed babies. Breastfeeding is additionally helpful in reducing the cases of pneumonia, meningitis, asthma, and also the chance of various allergies in a baby. Breastfeeding also lowers the prospect of SIDS (sudden death syndrome). Many types of research suggest that breastfeeding can help improve the baby's cognitive development. Some evidence supports that children who were breastfed in their early life scored higher on IQ tests and academics.

There are times when the little fledgling of a baby may be deprived of this elixir. Either the baby is born prematurely with not enough strength or the mother might be so weak that she may not be able to feed her baby, or there might be other medical conditions for the inability to provide immediate breastfeeding to the baby. Such situations may compromise the baby’s health and immunity. Combating such circumstances requires an interim alternate supply of milk for the babies.
The milk from the donor will benefit the sick and vulnerable babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. While donated milk is becoming more mainstream, there is not currently enough donated milk to meet the need for premature infants.
We are looking forward to new mothers who can provide support by expressing milk, and donating the excess milk for other sick babies in the hospital or to those in need.
